Aerial photography Florida

Approximately 90,000 aerial photographs taken between 1930 and 2000 covering every corner of the State. A special GIS style-viewer takes some getting used to, and is sometimes slow to load, but it provides very useful search and display capabilities. Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps

Nearly 300 historic maps produced by the fire insurance company in the early 1900's provide highly detailed street-level data about the composition and layout of Florida cities from 1884 to 1924. South Florida coverage includes Coconut Grove, Delray Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Homestead, Key West, Lemon City, Little River, and Miami. Southwest Florida Environmental Documents

About 30 titles representing over 2000 pages provide technical, management and scientific information about the southwest region's environment. Search the collection from the project home page in PALMM.

Florida Photographic Collection

The State Archives provides online access to 100,000 photographs from its collections. Of particular interest to South Floridians are the 600+ photographs from Mosaic, the Jewish Museum; about 100 images of Deaconess Harriet Bedell working among the Seminole Indians in South Florida from 1933 to 1960; the McDonal Collection covering Key West; and the John K. Small Collection, comprising 3,500 images of South Florida botanicals, 1901-1938. Search the collection from the project home page.
